GeoGulf 2021 recognizes the need to increase diversity, equity and inclusion within the geosciences is not only the right thing to do; it is the right thing to do for our community. Representing scientists from historically underrepresented groups, fostering new ideas and innovations within the field, and embracing the full spectrum of academics and industry members – regardless of where you come from, who you love, or what you look like – is how we can strengthen and sustain our great scientific community into the future.
GeoGulf 2021’s overriding theme is “Sustaining Geoscience through the Energy Transition,” and we cannot be sustainable without inclusion.
We need diverse backgrounds and experiences. We need a talented and passionate workforce. We need recruitment beyond typical pools. A diverse, equal, and inclusive approach to recruiting and fostering growth is vital to these needs (and more).
GeoGulf 2021 is committed to these values
By incorporating specific diversity, equity, and inclusion measures into the program this year, including:
By enforcing a code of conduct:
Each of us has a part in this mission.
For some of us, that means summoning the courage to speak out and share your thoughts, ideas and prospectives. For others, it means listening with patience and empathy. For all of us, it means respect for others and their perspectives.
